Mustometer 29cm
The Mustometer or Gradometer shows the percentage of sugar in kilograms according to its density.
This instrument can determine the sugar content of grapes and their degree of ripeness.
The result of vinification can be predicted by calculating (roughly) the alcohol content that will be obtained.
The temperature of either the must or the grapes should be close to 15°C.
The mustometer is set at 15°C, it does not have a thermometer.
For temperatures of +10°C and above, the mustometer shows -0.5. For temperatures of -10°C and below the mustometer shows +5.
Mustometer has four scales.:
- The yellow column shows the degrees (Be), the degrees of the must. Density 0-21 Baume.
- The white column with an indication of the corresponding alcohol % shows us in full correspondence with the previous indication of the final alcohol content of the wine 0-25%.
- The blue column is % grape sugar content of the must. Dextrose 0-42%.
- The second white column with an indication of specific gravity allows us to monitor the progress of the boiling, for timely sealing of the wine. Specific Gravity 0.980-1.170
The method of use is in a glass or plastic tube, it should not touch the sides or bottom of the tube. When it stops sinking we get the indication.
